My new jewellery storage from Muji

I've been trying to figure out how to organize my jewels for quite some time now. Then I remembered my favourite japanese store "Muji"
Ok, I might not have re-invented the wheel but I'd like to think it was quite clever to use this unpretentious pillbox  as an earring storage.  And, it'll be very handy once I go travelling again!!!!

Also very practical: these acrylic boxes from Muji

Apartment Therapy

I simply love "Apartment Therapy" ! It's an amazing homepage and constant inspiration I stumbled across while furnishing my apartment.

It is lovely but whith 43 m2 rather small so I felt I needed some assistance.
Two wonderful examples are the "landing strip" which is a place in your entryway where you can dump stuff like keys, letters as you take off your coat and shoes or things you need to take with you when you head out.

I cleverly combined it with two chests of drawers which hold my countless scarfs, wooly hats and mittens:

In the lower left corner you can spot the second example; the outbox or in my case the outbasket. It holds everything that needs to leave the apartment to eather go into the basement or the "Wertstoffhof" a specialist recycling place.

Unfortunately it needs someone to actually take it outside but hey it's a start.

"Me before you" by Jojo Moyes

"Me before you" tells the story of Lou Clark who desperately needs a job, any job. She starts working for Will, who is depressed since an accident put him in a wheelchair.
At first she finds it really hard to connect to her employer and wants to quit but her family's circumstances won't allow it. Then she finds out why she only got a six-months-contract and is determined to change everything...  A very moving read, cried buckets!

By the same author: "The girl you left behind":
Set in occupied France during WW1 Sophie tries to survive by running her parents hotel/restaurant with her sister. Her husband, an artist, is fighting at the front and she is left to deal with the German occupiers who decide to make the restaurant their favourite dinner venue.
In the present, Liv who's been recently widowed is about to loose her treasured painting, a portrait of Sophie by her husband, in a spectacular trial about Nazi war loot. She is prepared to loose everything but this gift by her late husband.

I was especially intrigued by the WW1 context but Amazon reviewers suggest that the historical facts are not quite accurate. Never-the-less I enjoyed it very much!

" Das Wispern der Angst" von Tanja Frei

Normalerweise lese ich nicht viel auf Deutsch, aber dieses Buch ist eine persönliche Empfehlung und ein Geschenk meiner Freundin, so konnte ich nicht anders. :-)

Wahnsinnig spannend, mystisch, historisch, packend sind nur einige Attribute die mir dazu einfallen.

New Year, new adventures?

This time of year, I tend to get restless. I want to plan ahead all the great things I want to do and experience, like for example travelling. But the coffers are empty and the finance minister says no, no, no!
But I can still dream. So maybe next year I'll be able to travel to Australia again? Or Spain, to see the Alhambra?
Spread my wings?

Right now, I'm a bit sad because I probably won't be able to do all these things this year but feel grateful that I already had the chance to see a lot of this world!

Happy New Year everyone!!
