Wonky Heidi goes to Cornwall part 1

Sketch & Stroll St. Ives

Isn`t the internet a marvellous thing? While planning my trip I stumbled upon the programme of the St. Ives September Festival, including some events of the St. Ives School of Painting, the Sketch & Stroll.
Of course, being an outdoorsy kind of event, it started drizzling as soon as the last participant had crossed the threshold of the Porthmeor Studios
(https://schoolofpainting.co.uk/about-us/porthmeor-studios/).

Never-the-less we ventured out, 7 of us led by Ges, the tutor, in case it would stop.
And of course, true artists suffer for their art!
Needless to say, it didn`t. Stop raining. All day.

We walked through the crooked lanes of St. Ives to a shelter at the end of the Harbour for a quick sketch and then onwards. After an hour of strolling through the rain we drudged back to the Porthmeor Studios and the cellars for some indoor sketching.
In the cellars we found the amazing installation by American Mark Dion, "The Maritime Artist."

Please check this out, as I had a technical crisis and lost all photos of that day:

Mark was there, weaving baskets and we had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sketch there, literally becoming part of the installation.

All-in-all I had the most inspiring day!!
