After all I, I do it all the time when on holiday.
Today I chose the The Palaentological Museum http://www.palmuc.de/ . It's small and it's free but make sure to check the opening hours before visiting.
Of course, I'm only interested in the skeletons for sketching. I inspired myself (honestly, how cool is that?), when I remembered visiting the Natural History Museum in London last September. From the artists point of view I have to say, it doesnt have any benches or seats and the balustrades were too low to be comfortable.
But the hordes of children (guessing age 5-6) seemed to love it. They were also very impressed by my efforts.

Interesting fact, it's also the seat of the LMU Faculty of Palaeontology and Geobiology and they had lectures going on.
