Late summer hike from Garmisch-Partenkirchen

On Sunday we went to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (famous for skiing and ski jumping)  to enjoy the late summer sunshine and do some hiking.
From the parking lot at the Berggasthof Almhütte (unofficially called Windbeutelalm) we joined the Kramerplateauweg to the ruins of castle Werdenfels, stopping for lunch at the Werdenfelser Hütte, and back.
It's an easy 4-5 hour walk with great views across the valley and Garmisch.

"Alte Utting" - Munichs new location

This summer the "Alte Utting", Munichs steamboat location finally opened its doors.

a few weeks before the opening

The makers of "Bahnwärter Thiel" and "Gans am Wasser" exceeded all my expectations and it's a new must-see for everyone. They bought an old steamboat from one of the lakes and got it delivered to Munich and put on a disused railway bridge next to the Großmarkthalle, the wholesale market or belly of Munich.
It is a huge area with bars, food stalls (of course vegan, BBQ's, Streetfood, Steckerlfisch = smoked mackerel, ...). There's a big open air area on the sides of the ship and inside.

The atmosphere was great and the crowd very diverse, young folks, old folks, hip people and normal people, kids).

Even though it was a fine, balmy evening there was enough space for everyone.

Of course, we brought the sketch books along.

I'm very interested to see how this exciting location will develop through autumn and winter.
